India’s First ISS Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla Inspires Students with Insights from Space

New Delhi, July 3 (IANS):
Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian astronaut on the International Space Station (ISS), interacted with Indian students, answering questions about space life—like eating, sleeping, and staying healthy in zero gravity.

He described the Axiom-4 launch as “amazing” and explained how astronauts adapt to microgravity, manage nutrition with pre-packaged meals, and tie sleeping bags to avoid floating around.

Shukla emphasized the importance of tech in staying connected with loved ones and noted changes in digestion due to fluid shifts in space. He’s currently working on a brain-computer interface in orbit.

Shukla is on a 14-day ISS mission with astronauts from the US, Poland, and Hungary, conducting 60 experiments representing 31 countries. ISRO has contributed seven studies to the mission.
