Patna Gangster Murder: Key Accused Tauseef Caught in Kolkata

Kolkata, July 23 — Tauseef Raja, also known as Badshah, the main accused in the murder of Patna gangster Chandan Mishra, tried to change his appearance to avoid arrest. He shaved his head, beard, and moustache using a barber called through a service app at a guest house in Kolkata’s Anandapur area, where he was hiding.

His cousin Nishu, who was with him, also trimmed his hair and shaved his beard for the same reason. However, Kolkata Police said their disguise did not work. Both were arrested along with two others from the same location.

Police officials said Tauseef and Nishu also used another trick. Instead of parking their car at the guest house, they left it about 100 meters away, near a high-rise building, to mislead the police. While their changed looks caused some confusion at first, police confirmed their identities after questioning them.

Investigators also found that this wasn’t the first time the duo had visited Kolkata. They had stayed in the city before and had several local contacts. Police are now checking those connections, especially in areas like Tiljala.

Chandan Mishra, a known gangster in Patna, was shot dead by five armed men inside the ICU of a private hospital on July 17. Following a joint operation by Bihar Police and the West Bengal Special Task Force, four suspects were arrested from the Anandapur guest house on July 19.

The arrested men are:

  • Tauseef Raja (prime accused)

  • Nishu (his cousin)

  • Bhim Kumar (caretaker)

  • Harsh Kumar (male nurse)

All four were presented in Alipore court on July 20. The court granted Bihar Police a 48-hour transit remand to take them back for further investigation.
