Two Children Killed, 17 Injured in Shooting at Minneapolis Catholic School

A gunman opened fire during morning Mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Monday, killing two children aged eight and ten and injuring 17 others, police said. Fourteen of the injured were children.

Police Chief Brian O’Hara described the shooting as a “deliberate act of violence against children and worshippers.” The attacker, armed with multiple weapons, shot through church windows before turning the gun on himself.

Doctors at Hennepin Healthcare reported seven critically injured children, four of whom required surgery. All remain alive.

City and state leaders, including Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz, expressed shock, while President Donald Trump confirmed federal agencies are assisting.

“This senseless attack has deeply traumatised our community,” O’Hara said.
