Indian Junior Boxers Shine at Belt and Road International Youth Boxing Gala
Xinjiang, Aug 29 Fourteen Indian junior boxers have reached the finals of the 3rd ‘Belt and Road’ International Youth Boxing Gala in Xinjiang, China, continuing India’s strong showing in age-group competitions.
The Indian contingent of 58 members, including 20 boys and 20 girls, delivered standout performances against tough opponents from Kazakhstan, Iran, Korea, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, and China, securing multiple silver medal positions and strong chances for gold.
Among the boys, Dhruv Kharb (46kg), Falak (48kg), Piyush (50kg), and Udham Singh Raghav (54kg) were particularly impressive, defeating opponents from China, Korea, and Iran to reach the finals. Aditya (52kg) and Ashish (54kg) fought well but lost narrowly to Kazakhstan boxers, while Uday Singh, Devendra Chaudhary, Jaideep Singh Hanjra, and Loven Gulia were eliminated despite strong efforts.
On the girls’ side, Laxmi (46kg), Khushi (46kg), Radhamani (60kg), Chandrika (54kg), Jyoti (75kg), and Anushka (+80kg) all triumphed against opponents from China and the Philippines, while Chahat (60kg), Himanshi (66kg), Harnoor (66kg), and Anshika (+80kg) won in all-India matchups. Bhakti (50kg) and Shivani (75kg) fought closely but were eliminated by Chinese boxers.
With the tournament entering its final stage, India’s junior boxers remain well-positioned for a strong medal haul as they continue to showcase their talent on the international stage.
