Adam Sandler Returns with Happy Gilmore 2 After 28 Years

Los Angeles, July 22 : Hollywood actor Adam Sandler has confirmed that Happy Gilmore 2 is finally happening—almost 30 years after the original comedy hit screens in 1996.

Sandler shared the news during an interview on Good Morning America on July 21. He said fans have been asking for a sequel for years. “People would always say, ‘You ever gonna do Happy Gilmore 2?’ For 28 years, I said no. Then I thought—maybe. It just felt like the right time.”

In the upcoming sequel, the 58-year-old actor returns as Happy Gilmore, a hot-headed, hockey-loving golfer. The story will show Gilmore at a rough point in life, now a family man trying to get back into the golf world.

The new movie features both returning and new cast members. Familiar faces like Ben Stiller, Christopher McDonald (as Shooter McGavin), and Julie Bowen are back. New additions include NFL star Travis Kelce, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, and several pro golfers.

Sandler said he was amazed by how the cast came together: “We wrote the roles and people were kind enough to say yes. Everyone did a great job. Every day, someone cool would show up, and we’d hang out.”

Christopher McDonald, who plays the film’s villain, recently told People magazine that Netflix and Sandler had “outdone themselves” with the sequel. He praised Sandler’s talent and heart, saying, “He’s got so much love for people. I’m really happy for him.”

Though he didn’t give away plot details, McDonald hinted that the sequel is a “big deal,” revealing he had signed a non-disclosure agreement.

Happy Gilmore 2 will premiere on Netflix on July 25, offering fans a long-awaited return to the beloved golf comedy.
