Anthony Elanga Joins Newcastle United

Newcastle United have officially signed Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest on a long-term deal. The 23-year-old Swedish winger joins after a strong season in the 2024/25 Premier League, where he scored 6 goals and made 11 assists, helping Forest qualify for European football.

Elanga, a teammate of Alexander Isak on the Sweden national team, played over 100 Premier League matches and made a big impact since joining Forest in 2023.

Before moving to Forest, he came through Manchester United’s youth academy, where he debuted in May 2021 and scored his first Premier League goal.

A Rising Swedish Star

Elanga has also become a regular in the Sweden national team, with 4 goals in 22 appearances. He recently played the full 90 minutes in Sweden’s 2-0 win over Hungary last month.

Speaking about the move, Elanga said:

“I’m really happy and excited. I can’t wait to wear the black and white shirt and fight for this club. I loved my two years at Nottingham Forest, but now I’m ready for this new challenge. Newcastle is building something special, and I want to be part of that journey.”

He also praised Newcastle’s passionate fanbase and said he looks forward to embracing the club’s culture and values.

Eddie Howe: “A Unique Attacking Threat”

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe welcomed Elanga, calling him a key target:

“Anthony is an exciting talent. His pace, energy, and ability to create and score goals will help our team. He fits perfectly into how we want to play. He’s also eager to improve and succeed here.”

Elanga’s arrival is one of the early signings in Newcastle’s pre-season, as the club looks to build on their recent success — including a trophy win last season.

A Fresh Chapter for Elanga

Now at Newcastle, Elanga hopes to grow even more as a player and contribute to the club’s future in the Premier League and European competitions.
