India Expands Huge Offshore Oil and Gas Search

India is preparing to explore over 250,000 square kilometers for oil and gas under its latest licensing round (OALP Round X). Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced this in Norway, calling it a major step in energy exploration.

Puri said Prime Minister Modi’s decision to remove restrictions on exploration areas will boost India’s energy growth. He also met with BW-LPG’s CEO to discuss increasing cooperation in gas shipping.

Global and Indian energy companies are showing strong interest in the new licensing round. The government is also seeking public feedback on new oil and gas rules before July 17.

Puri will attend the ‘Urja Varta 2025’ event in New Delhi to discuss India’s big push in oil and gas exploration.
