Indian Businesses Turn to AI and Green Finance
Indian businesses are using AI, automation, and green finance to innovate and stay strong, as India remains one of the fastest-growing major economies. This was reported by DBS and EY on Thursday.
Around 79% of Indian CFOs and treasurers believe that Generative AI and AI-powered tools will help reduce risks and improve treasury operations.
The report said companies are planning for the long-term impact of global changes. Divyesh Dalal, Managing Director at DBS Bank India, noted that today’s world is filled with uncertainty. In this situation, finance leaders are becoming both planners and risk managers for their companies.
In India, 80% of businesses said green finance options like green bonds and ESG-linked loans will help support their environmental goals and meet green standards.
Dalal added that as the world looks to India for growth, finance leaders have greater responsibilities. They must guide business expansion, decide how funds are used, and build strong supply chains while following ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.
Globally, 69% of finance leaders said they are exploring Generative AI to improve inventory forecasts, speed up receivables collection, and manage cash flows better.
The report included views from 800 finance leaders, including CFOs and treasurers, from seven sectors in 14 markets.
Half of the businesses said that supporting green initiatives and meeting sustainability standards are top priorities. To advance sustainability, 77% of companies plan to use digital tools for better ESG reporting, 64% will partner with ESG networks, and 63% will use green trade finance options.
About 50% of finance leaders said they are working on changing their supply chains to place manufacturing closer to customers in different regions.
Santanu Mitra, Managing Director at DBS Bank India, said companies today are dealing with many big changes at the same time, such as rapid AI growth, climate change, geopolitical risks, and new trade complexities.
