One Dead, Four Injured After Tazia Touches Power Line in Jharkhand
Giridih (Jharkhand), July 6 — One person died and four others were injured when a Tazia touched an 11,000-volt electric wire during a Muharram procession in Chakosingha village, Giridih district.
The Tazia, carried on shoulders during the procession, accidentally hit the high-tension wire, causing a strong electric shock. Five to six people collapsed; one died on the spot and two are in serious condition. All the injured are being treated at Giridih District Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Ramniwas Yadav said the administration acted quickly to provide help.
This is not the first time such an accident has happened. Last year, similar incidents during Muharram occurred in other villages, causing more deaths and injuries.
Despite safety guidelines on the height of Tazias, many processions still don’t follow the rules.
