Tamil Nadu Plans to Adopt Centre’s AI Grievance Platform with District-Level Changes

The Tamil Nadu government is preparing to sign an MoU with the Centre to adopt ‘Anna Sahayata’, an AI-based grievance redressal platform for Public Distribution System (PDS) beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act.

Before finalising the agreement, the state has requested the inclusion of District Revenue Officers in the complaint resolution process to enable quicker disposal of grievances at the local level. The Centre’s current framework provides resolution at taluk and state levels.

Tamil Nadu already operates its own technology-based PDS grievance system through the TNPDS portal, along with helplines, SMS services, and email options. After the MoU, complaints will be shifted to the national Anna Sahayata platform.

The AI-powered system allows beneficiaries to register complaints through WhatsApp and IVRS services and supports 12 regional languages. The platform aims to improve access, speed up grievance handling, and help authorities identify issues in the PDS delivery system.
