Indian judoka Unnati Sharma says her goal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow is to compete with confidence and make India proud as she prepares for her debut in the women’s 63kg category.
The Dehradun athlete began judo after exploring several sports during childhood and overcame early setbacks, including hiding a broken hand after her first training session to avoid being forced to quit. She later became the first girl from her neighbourhood to represent India.
Unnati credited her family, especially her father, for supporting her throughout her journey, and said years of hard work have prepared her for this opportunity.
She also praised the Inspire Institute of Sport, saying training with top athletes and experienced coaches has improved her skills, confidence and competitive mindset.
Her coach described her as a determined and disciplined athlete who has developed into a composed competitor capable of performing well on the international stage.
Unnati will take to the mat in Glasgow on Saturday, aiming to convert years of dedication into success at one of the biggest events of her career.
