Apple Appoints Indian-Origin Sabih Khan as New COO

Apple has chosen Sabih Khan, an executive of Indian origin, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Khan has worked at Apple for nearly 30 years. He will replace Jeff Williams, who is stepping down this month and will retire later this year.

This leadership change comes when Apple is facing problems like slow iPhone sales and trade tariffs. Jeff Williams worked at Apple for over 27 years. Until he retires, he will continue leading the design team and health projects. After that, Apple’s design team will report directly to CEO Tim Cook.

Tim Cook thanked Williams for his hard work, saying he was a key person behind Apple’s success. Williams helped build Apple’s strong supply chain, launch the Apple Watch, and develop health-related projects.

Sabih Khan joined Apple in 2019 as Senior Vice President of Operations. He managed Apple’s global supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing. As the new COO, he will report to Tim Cook and will also oversee AppleCare.

Cook praised Khan for his smart planning and efforts to use new manufacturing technologies. He said Khan has helped Apple make products in the US and respond better to global challenges. Cook also noted that Khan played an important role in reducing Apple’s carbon footprint by over 60%.

Apple is now moving some manufacturing work from China to India to avoid US tariffs. Sabih Khan studied Economics and Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University and has a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
