Joao Pedro Shines as Chelsea Reach Club World Cup Final

Chelsea has reached the FIFA Club World Cup final after beating Fluminense 2-0 on Wednesday. Coach Enzo Maresca praised the team and new striker Joao Pedro for their strong performance.

Maresca said, “The last few years have not been great for this club, but this year things went well, and now we are in the final. We are very proud to bring Chelsea back to where it belongs.”

He added that it feels special to be in the final because it is the first edition of the new format Club World Cup, featuring the best clubs in the world.

Joao Pedro, who recently joined Chelsea from Brighton, made an impressive debut by scoring both goals. The 23-year-old Brazilian striker scored once before halftime and once after, leading Chelsea to victory at MetLife Stadium near New York City.

Coach Maresca said, “I am very happy for Joao. He has the quality to decide games like today. We signed him because he is good against teams that defend deeply.”

Pedro did not celebrate his goals out of respect for Fluminense, where he started his professional career. He said, “They gave me everything when I was young. I feel bad for them, but this is my job now. I have to be a professional.”

Pedro was named player of the match for his brilliant performance.

Fluminense coach Renato Gaucho accepted the defeat, saying Chelsea deserved to win. However, he was proud of his team’s journey, which restored respect for Brazilian football.

He said, “Fluminense had a remarkable run. We defeated some strong teams. Even though we are out, we leave with our heads held high.
