Kishan Reddy Unveils Vision Plans for Copper and Aluminium to Support India’s Clean Energy Future

New Delhi, July 5 – Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy released two important reports to strengthen India’s clean energy and green economy goals. The reports, titled ‘Copper Vision 2047’ and ‘Aluminium Vision 2047’, were published by the Ministry of Mines and the Indian Institute of Metals.

Reddy said that copper and aluminium are key materials for India’s push towards clean energy, electric vehicles, and smart cities. The goal is to build strong domestic supply chains, reduce imports, and create jobs.

India currently imports 94% of its copper needs. The government wants to increase local production and promote recycling to meet rising demand in renewable energy and infrastructure.

The vision documents highlight steps like:

  • Expanding mining operations

  • Using advanced technology

  • Creating a circular economy

  • Boosting R&D in the metals sector

The event was attended by industry leaders, policymakers, and officials from states like Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, where mining activities are strong.
