Leandro Paredes Returns to Boca Juniors, Aims for More Trophies

Argentina’s World Cup winner Leandro Paredes has rejoined Boca Juniors after over ten years in Europe. The 31-year-old midfielder signed a contract with Boca that runs until December 2028 after leaving Roma.

Speaking at his presentation, Paredes said he feels great both physically and as a player. He told the media, “I’ve matured a lot and feel ready to help Boca win trophies.”

Over 50,000 fans filled the Bombonera stadium to welcome him back. Paredes said his family wanted to return to Argentina, and their support was key in his decision. “My wife and children told me to pack my bags and come,” he shared.

Boca Juniors will begin their 2025 Clausura season this Sunday against Argentinos Juniors. Paredes said he is unsure if he will play in the first match due to his current fitness level after vacation but promised to train hard to join the team soon.

He added, “My dream is to achieve big things again with Boca. Winning the Copa Libertadores is my goal, but it will take hard work step by step.”

Paredes first played for Boca in 2010 before moving to Italy’s Chievo Verona. He later played for Roma, PSG, and Juventus. He has 73 caps for Argentina and was part of the team that won the 2022 World Cup and Copa America titles in 2021 and 2024.
