Subroto Cup U-15 Football Tournament Kicks Off in Bengaluru with Thrilling Matches

The 64th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament began its Under-15 boys’ category in Bengaluru on Thursday, delivering a day full of action and close contests.

The opening match saw Minerva Public School (CISCE) edge past Indira Modern High School (Haryana) with a 2-1 win. Haryana’s Rahul scored in the very first minute, but Minerva bounced back with goals from Gurtej Veer in the 32nd minute and Kipgen in stoppage time to seal the victory.

In another game, Shri Leelanand Secondary School (Jharkhand) dominated Tashi Namgyal Academy (IPSC) 5-1. Suraj struck first in the 20th minute, followed by quick goals from Abhi (33’, 35’), Ritesh (36’), and Ishant (48’). S. Chettri pulled one back for IPSC in the 38th minute, but Jharkhand’s side remained in control.

River Side Natural School (Madhya Pradesh) also impressed, defeating Govt Model Senior Secondary School (Chandigarh) 3-1. Vineet (20’) and Lokesh (22’, 50’) scored for Madhya Pradesh, while Jayaraj netted a consolation goal for Chandigarh in the 47th minute.

Two matches ended in draws. SFS Higher Secondary School (Nagaland) and JNV Pakur-1 (NVS) played out a 0-0 stalemate in a tight contest. Anand Niketan School (Gujarat) and Vidyachal International School (Bihar) also finished goalless, with both teams unable to break the deadlock.

The Subroto Cup, one of India’s most prestigious school football tournaments, is known for discovering and nurturing young football talent. The Under-15 boys’ matches will continue in the coming days, with schools from across the country competing for the title.
