French tennis player Quentin Halys secured his first ATP Tour title after defeating defending champion Alexander Bublik in the Generali Open final in Kitzbühel, Austria.
The 29-year-old delivered a strong performance to beat the top-seeded Bublik 6-4, 7-6(6) in the clay-court ATP 250 tournament. Halys hit 17 aces and held his nerve in the second-set tie-break to claim the biggest title of his career.
After a 14-year professional journey, Halys said the victory fulfilled a childhood dream and thanked his family and supporters.
The triumph made Halys the first Frenchman in the Open Era to win the Kitzbühel title. He is set to rise to No. 51 in the ATP rankings after his breakthrough week.
