South Korean companies and global technology firms, including Nvidia, have agreed to pursue cooperation projects valued at around $950 billion, according to a senior government official.
The plans include a long-term semiconductor supply agreement under which SK Group will provide high-performance chips worth $750 billion to major tech companies. The deal was discussed during a meeting in San Francisco involving leaders from Samsung, SK Group, Nvidia, and OpenAI.
The companies also agreed to explore investments in large-scale AI data centres with a combined capacity of 5 gigawatts and 2 million GPUs. South Korea’s Naver plans to build global AI facilities through partnerships with Nvidia and Brookfield.
President Lee Jae Myung said South Korea aims to become a key and reliable partner in the global AI semiconductor supply chain by leveraging its advanced chip manufacturing capabilities.
